Red Wine
Below is our easy step-by-step guide to removing red wine from carpets.
- Use a clean white towel or kitchen roll to blot away as much excess wine as possible.
- Add a few drops of cold water to the stain to help dilute it, and keep blotting.
- Mix together 2 cups of warm water, 1 tbsp of white vinegar and 1 tbsp of washing-up liquid.
- Apply the solution directly onto the stain using a clean cloth.
- Blot until the stain is removed completely.
Hot Chocolate
Here is our easy step-by-step guide to removing a hot chocolate spill on carpet.
- Use a clean towel to blot up as much of the liquid as possible, work inwards to avoid spreading the stain.
- Pour a small amount of cold water onto the area to help dilute the stain and blot again
- Mix a tablespoon of washing-up liquid with two cups of warm water. Dampen a towel in the solution and blot the area.
- Repeat, until the stain is gone.
- Use a towel dampened with warm water and clean to remove any soapy residue.

Gravy
We have an easy step-to-step guide to help you remove those gravy stains from your carpet.
- Scrape off as much gravy as possible
- Cover the remaining gravy with an absorbent powder, such as baking soda.
- Leave the powder to let it absorb the moisture and then use a vacuum to remove.
- Mix washing up liquid with warm water. Blot the mixture on the stain, then sponge the area with cold water to rinse.
- If necessary, add ½ tablespoon of white vinegar into the solution and repeat these steps until the stain is gone.
Tea
However, help is at hand! Below is Renew’s quick and easy guide to removing a tea stain from carpet.
- Use kitchen roll or a clean towel to blot up as much liquid as possible.
- Pour a small amount of cold water on the stain to dilute the tea, and blot again until no more liquid is transferred.
- Mix together 2 ounces of white vinegar with 4 ounces of warm water. Test this cleaning solution on an inconspicuous area of carpet first.
- Using a clean cloth and the above cleaning solution, rub the area working inwards so as not to spread the stain.
- Continue until the stain is gone.
